Yeah, that 'RPM patch' is a no-go for 7.1. I downloaded their 2.2.15 kernel
patch, and patched/compiled my 7.1 kernel manually (my first time ever, and
it rocked!). This fixed all the probs I had with no sound, cd-rw, zip, and
others that I had on a previous try from using the RPM patch... I followed
directions consisting of the directions that come with W4L's kernel patch,
and the 'upgrade your kernel' NFO on LinuxNewbie.org
(http://www.linuxnewbie.org). Like I said, first time was a charm...!

All I did was download the kernel rpm from
ftp://www.netraverse.com/pub/win4lin/Linux_Kernels/RPMS/Kernel-Win4Lin1-Mand
rake7.0-15.i686.rpm

I chose this one because my current kernel is 686 the other rpm is 586 and i
dont want it.
also this file is tiny and the 586 one is rather large.
What Im I doing wrong? is this wrong is there a patch for my kernel at all
Im running the download version of mdk 7.1 called helium. kernel 2.2.15-4
thanks for the response
