Okay the following is only my opinion and I'd like to make it quite clear that I'm still using Windows 7 for the moment.
What justifies the upgrade to Window-Eyes 8? Well supposedly a better browser interface and I'm the one who says "Supposedly" as I think GW Micro have gone backwards here. The whole idea of the new interface is that its supposed to be quicker and - using the tab key - you're supposed to be able to tab to edit boxes, form controls etc and Window-Eyes is supposed to turn Browse mode off. Well - in my experience, - the actions as described with the tab key certainly do work however you have no idea sometimes of whether Window-Eyes is or isn't in browse mode when a web page loads and this is annoying. Further to this, Window-eyes still has problems when it comes to recognising or reporting links on a page so I'm often finding myself using NVDA to navigate web pages, the interface for browsers using NVDA gives me more accurate information about the page then Window-Eyes 8 does. I really wish GW Micro would stay "Stuff The Old Browse Mode" and rewrite the thing because JAWS and NVDA "P" all over it.
