Okay, its unlikely of course but I would contact the manufacturer and see if a downgrade to Windows 7 is available for Gordon's machine, as I say its not likely now given that Windows 8 has been with us for 6 months but it can't hurt to try.
If 1 is not available then you'll have to make the best of it I guess.
