Certainly. Look, I don't have a Windows installation -- I use Linux
exclusively, so I'll be the last to make Linux development
harder. However, my motivation behind this effort is that I think it will
help us find bugs. If we can simply replace a Windows DLL with our own
implementation and see the results...

Yes. And it will yield the most benefit. Speaking of which, should we be
able to compile with Windows native headers?
