I have a problem I'm hoping the group can help
with. We have a well-established wireless network with over 1,000 users. We are
currently designing a new auditorium and there is a push to wire all 350 seats.
Needless to say this is going to be an expensive proposition to install and
maintain, but egos are involved and money is not the driving force here. I
should note we have decided to put power to all 350 seats anyway.
Can anyone relate experiences with putting wire or
wireless into auditoriums? Our arguments that utilization will be low have
fallen on deaf ears. We have a student body of 1500 of which approx. 1000 have
laptops (and all have wireless cards that we supply.) We have wireless in
another auditorium which seats about 150 and have no problems.
I'd be interested in anyone who has installed
wireless in such a large area with many laptop users or those who have wired an
auditorium with good or bad experiences. We are in the final design stages, so a
decision in imminent.
Thanks!
