It's too bad this hotfix doesn't fix the problem where Windows will associate with a broadcasting SSID over a non-broadcasting SSID even if the non-broadcasting SSID is higher up in the preferred network order list.
The "Connect even if this network is not broadcasting" parameter under the Network Name (SSID) tab got my hopes up, only to be squashed by reality. We're still contemplating whether to announce this hotfix or not. Lee, We also had a number of issues with wireless on Dells and WinXP SP2. I've also experienced the issue you're referring to about the authentication window going to the background, but it is inconsistent. In any case, I found the following updates to be very helpful for WinXP SP2 and Dells with the Intel wireless chipset.
