We were just asked to look at that since we installed ~500+ new APs to
provide ubiquitous wireless coverage in our residence halls.  Rough
analysis shows an approximate ~30+% drop in IP traffic to/from the wired
ports in the dorms as measured at our campus border.  And if we didn't
require use of the wired ports in order to watch our multicast video
content, I bet that number would be even higher, especially since the vast
majority of the wired ports are Cat 3 and limited to 10Mbps.
