Stefan,
I have been running the Sputnik distro (stagecoach release) for a while,
and it seems to do the job very nicely. Its a combo of the Prism2
HostAP, NoCatAuth, bootable linux distro (what looks like the LinuxCare
Toolbox), and other goodies all packed into a bootable CD.
My node runs on an old Micron Millenia Transport laptop (133MHz Pentium,
32MB RAM), with a DLink Wi-Fi card, a NetGear 10/100 Ethernet card,
talking to my DHCP network.

You can grab the iso from their site and give it a spin.
