uh-huh... no SSL, so your Boingo ID+Password are sent in clear. That's

I thought SMTP Auth allowed a variety of authentication mechanisms,
including encrypted ones for password security? Am I wrong about this? I
just did some Googling, and the sendmail documentation (obscure and
confusing as always, unfortunately) seems to indicate you can accept a
variety of methods, but that it can default to no encryption.
See my other post.

SMTP supports lots of AUTH schemes both SSL encrypted and not. But the Boingo setup docs for using their SMTP server tell you to configure Outlook, Outlook Express and Netscape Communicator in a way that will use your Boingo ID+Password using plaintext authentication and without SSL.
