Does anyone know of a way to verify Line of Sight between two locations
without going through the process of setting up antennas and hardware ? I
would like to connect two sites that are exactly two miles apart. It is
here in San Jose, so my problem is that tall trees might be in the way.
I have discussed with the other party the possibility of putting a 40'
mast and antenna on each of our houses in order to make the link.
However, I don't want to go through the process of setting them both up
and then having several trees be in the los and blocking signal. Or will
a few tree tops really affect signal that much ? Does it matter/help what
type of antenna I use that might be more sensitive than others ?

So, is there any alternatives that anyone knows about, such as maybe
hiring a survey company to check this out for a small fee, or will I have
to manually trace the line of sight and measure each tree and building
with a protractor, line weight and tape measure. Or maybe rent a couple
of 50' boom lifts and verify it that way. Any ideas ??

BTW - my first post and yes, I looked through the archives a few months
back looking for ideas.

Thanks, Matt
