Look I'm a technical neophite I just go to Frys and hook up the stuff they
sell me...if some one drives by my house and warchalks me what do I know
about that?

When I buy Gas they charge me by the gallon If I have a hole in my tank Ill
notice the lower mileage.. I don't even check my mileage on the Broadband..
If someone is using my power the meter runs faster so If you want me to
monitor my usage you better give me a meter.

If you sell me bandwidth which is limited by the size of the pipe I can use
the pipe to its full capacity.

If the Cable company gets poopy about it I can surely find a way to
legitimately max out my bandwidh demand 24 / 7. Even if it is just sending
Video files back and forth to friends.

You better read the fine print on that one...
It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you are the only one using your
access line, all they have to do is prove you are letting others using it
and they will pull it.

IF you just have an open AP it is the responsibility of the people outside
of your infrastructure. Wired or Wireless if you have a splitter and someone
hooks up to it withour your knowlege it is not your job to be the Cable
police.

I wonder if you were to share your Fileserver with a neighbor would AT&T
require your packet filter to make sure the neighbor could only use your
server and printer and not email?

Anyone ever heard of people being charged under section 7(g) of the AT&T BI
(cable modem) service agreement?

Is there any way they can know if you're violating the agreement anyway?

7...
(c) Multiple Users. The Service and the AT&T Broadband Equipment shall be
used only by Customer and by members of Customer's immediate household
living with Customer at the same address. Customer acknowledges that
Customer is executing this Agreement on behalf of all persons who use the
AT&T Broadband Equipment and/or Service by means of the Customer Equipment.
Customer shall have sole responsibility for ensuring that all such other
users understand and comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
Customer further acknowledges and agrees that Customer is solely responsible
for and liable for any and all breaches of the terms and conditions of this
Agreement, whether such breach is the result of use of the Service and/or
the AT&T Broadband Equipment by Customer or by any other user of the
Customer Equipment. Customer agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless
AT&T Broadband and its affiliates against all claims and expenses (including
reasonable attorney fees) arising out of the use of the Service and/or the
AT&T Broadband Equipment or the breach of this Agreement by Customer or any
other user of the Customer Equipment.

(g) Theft of Service. Customer shall not connect the Service or any AT&T
Broadband Equipment to more computers, either on or outside of the Premises,
than are reflected in Customer's account with AT&T Broadband. Customer
acknowledges that any unauthorized receipt of the Service constitutes theft
of service, which is a violation of federal law and can result in both civil
and criminal penalties. In addition, if the violations are willful and for
commercial advantage or private financial gain, the penalties may be
increased.
