Thanks for the info about the cafes around UCB. Great to see more and more
free cafes establishing themselves. I recently read an article about a
businessman in boston offering free WiFi in order to drive eyeballs to his
Apple store. His cost for doing so was on the order of a few thousand
dollars: a drop in the bucket when compared to the cost for advertising.

It seems that this will be the trend of the future: business' handing out
free wifi and dock the cost involved from their marketing budget. If this is
the case, what is the long-term business case for the fee-based hotspots?
Seems like I would only use those when I am traveling, which is relatively
rare.
