Yes but it also is leading to more headaches for network admins. Stupid people plug them in twice or plug them into themselves creating a switching loop and bringing down the whole network... Spanning tree was turned on in the two cases that I came across and it still didn't fix it (different brands of equipment caused this???). Heck I can make a crossover cable for about 20 cents.
