Getting MT or StarOS FCC certified would never make the prices soar to $1k each :-)

Further, I would say that most of the folks using an MT/StarOS system would tell you that price had little or nothing to do with their decision. There are plenty of solutions available that are just as cheap as building your own, perhaps cheaper - all things considered.
