I agree that fiber and wireless would circumvent the issue entirely.

The telco and cableco run copper from building to building.

Do not connect buildings with copper cable, unless they are bonded to the
same single point ground system.. This is what wireless and fiber are for.

What are those of you that are connecting different buildings together with
cat 5\6 cable doing WRT grounding?  Aren't all grounding systems with
anything conductive linking them supposed to be bonded together so that the
equipment doesn't become the path to ground?  Is this as simple as placing
surge protectors on both sides or is it more complicated such as running
some 4 gauge copper alongside the cable?

Same with an RG-6 cable.
