Interesting arcticle. What so many forget is that Fiber does not just cost $4000 per sub to Verizon, it costs $17 /month per subscriber. There is a big difference. Long term beneift is undisputed. The problem a small provider has to ask is... How do they fund it.
Its also important to note though that the $4000/sub accounts for all costs for full Fiber end to end. It can cost much less for a partial hybrid fiber deployment that is cherry picked. Verizon rejected cheaper broadband alternatives and decided to build the fiber system at an estimated cost of about $4,000 for every customer. -- Charles Wyble (818) 280 - 7059 http://charlesnw.blogspot.com CTO Known Element Enterprises / SoCal WiFI project -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WISPA Wants You!
