When you enable airmax on the AP, only airmax capable stations will see it and can connect to it. Airmax capable clients will be able to connect to non-airmax enabled AP's, they recognize airmax/non-airmax alike. You can not mix and match, you can't run legacy gear to a Airmax enabled AP, won't work. Which isn't a good thing, but it's Ubiquities statement on the subject, they say their older hardware can't handle airmax/tdma.
