I'd never got back to the crimp or solder cheapo connectors. It's just too
critical of a component. All it has to do is loosen up due to temp changes
and you'll fight strange performance issues forever!

At the very lease solder them vs. crimping the center pin. At least that
creates a positive connection.

If you use the EZ connectors it's important to have the lip on the center
pin cleaned up. Otherwise you don't get a good connection. I can see where
a file would work just fine, but I don't have time to fiddle with that kind
of thing. It takes me just a few minutes to make a PERFECT connection
nowadays.

It's like the cat5 we do. I ONLY use the EZ connectors and crimper now.
Yeah the tool and crimps are expensive, but my time is even more valuable.

I buy Bosch, Dewalt, or Milwakee drills. I don't often use screw drivers
anymore, I use electric drivers (high speed Bosch 12vdc unit) etc.

I've got a LARGE bucket truck. I replace my ladders every couple of years
(4 at most). I put on good tires and brakes. I hire help if I get too busy
or the job is too dangerous.

I'm tired of working so hard. I'm too old (45) to take crazy chances. It's
time to get the company paid off and start putting kids through college.
Soon we'll be able to put money in the bank for later. As things sit right
now we'll have nearly everything (not the house or cars) paid off in about 5
years. Never know, we may decide to expand or buy someone out and screw
that up, but as of now the future is looking very bright!

We're up to just under 700 subs now. 7500+ square miles. 30+ "tower"
sites. I have 1.2 people in the office, the wife spends 6 or 7 hours a week
paying bills (home ones included) and I work 6 to 12 hours per day (more
toward 12 :-). Once in a while I hire some help in the field as stated
above.

Our gross revenue will hit around $350,000 this year. All with basically
2.5 people. Not too many companies can accomplish that. Especially in
areas as sparsely populated as we are.

Efficiency and safety are very high on my list for what I do and the tools I
use.

laters,
marlon
