You can bridge the units together using WDS. I'm *pretty sure* that you can connect them back to back with cat5 to get basically a dual radio setup and push full speed over one hop: base unit <= wds backhaul => receiver wds <=> ubnt configured as access point If you go ad hoc, you'll lose 50% of your speed over a one hop link. If you have a cheap linksys router, you can create a triple radio and go full speed up to 4 or 5 hops.
