I think it makes sense to extend the release lifetime of 2.6 to 30 months.
At the same time I'd like to avoid having more than three active stable
releases at any given time. We'd either have to shorten the lifetime of 3.0
to 18 or 20 months or delay the release of 3.2 or 3.4 to fall 2019 and fall
2020 respectively, or both.


As we plan major changes in 3.0 perhaps it makes sense with a shorter
lifespan?
