Dude - Those double-slashes are normal... Don't worry! it's an 'escape character' that is the 'extra' slash (ok, someone else can explain that one...)
There have been a lot of comments about the config.taf not being reliable; editing the ini file by hand seems to be the way to go. Not sure if you can just rip out the perosonal server section, but it's pretty much ignored by the App server. You only see both if you have the dev studio installed on the same machine. So far sounds like you have everything set up pretty well... Let us know how it works!
