I don't disagree with what Scott and Bill have said, but I also don't see any harm in what Wayne suggested. He simply asked if there was an option to change the name back to Tango. If there is, now would be the time to do it. If there are obstacles that prevent that from happening, that's understood and the subject is dropped and we move forward.
I also realize that Robert is probably very busy right now with the work he's doing in preparation of the launch. It's possible that with everything else on his plate, he hasn't put any thought on the name of the product. Or he thought about it and didn't think it was an issue and moved on. I'm not going to make any assumptions here. If Robert has time to respond, he will. I do however respectively disagree with Scott's comment. It's not that those of us that are still here will stick around or not, but it's in part how easy the product can be sold to others. When I went solo 9 years ago, I started with another name for the company. It was a made up word, using the initials of my kids. It never rolled off the tongue properly and I soon found out that if I pronounced it in a certain way, it sounded like a odd sexual fetish. So I became conscious of how I said it and usually ended up stumbling whenever I said the name of my own company. Not good. So I changed it to Oakbridge. I don't have such a hate for With that some on the list have. I believe that their original intentions were good, but over time they found it difficult to make a profit from the product. I thank them for the years that they did keep the product going. Without them, the product would have died 8-9 years ago. However since the day that With took over the product and they rebranded it, I've always stumbled over the name. Worse, because I was so involved in the original Tango product, I typically resorted back to that name. I'm sure that it was confusing in the eyes of anyone I spoke with. I usually walked away from demos and meetings feeling very comfortable about my overall performance, but always feeling that it was less than perfect each time I stumbled over the name or switched back to using Tango. I see that Robert has just posted a response. I agree with his plan of attack. Keep the name short term but look to rebrand it to something new in the future. It's also nice to see a response from the owner so quickly. Besides... the tango.com domain is owned by the makes of the drink in England. We had plenty of those cans sitting on the corners of desks and on shelves in the old Mississauga office of EveryWare.
