OK, I know now I need some virtual pc software for testing installations. But I still have to clean what I messed up already.
Basically I ended up installing some components to some random, inexistent, incorrect path (set in a custom action...). I didn't get any error dialog while installing, but I did during uninstall - it complained something about the bogus path being inaccessible. In my ignorance I run the installer few more times with the same error in my custom action. So I have a few unremovable entries in Add/Remove Programs.
