Never allow a notification to obscure what is currently being worked on,
and never, ever, allow a pop-up window to steal focus from another
application.

Sound and virtual desktops are problematic. I run a dozen or so apps on
several virtual desktops, and when some application beeps at me, it's a
bit of a chore to find out WHAT application wants attention. It has
reached the point where I ignore such things, or discard the window
manager du jour and install WindowMaker for a more blissful experience.

And add new ones!

"Show me the notification history of this process."

"Old School" meaning "it works"? :)

Meh. I like the current look. I also like the OS X look -- with icons
floating free in one big box. I'm sure I wouldn't like icons without
some sort of box around 'em.

Didn't afterstep do this?

I'm there with 'stay atable and don't create surprises'.
