Input and output mechanisms rarely have to be the same. I input data to a computer using a keyboard. It's output to screen.
An input is a data object. Data objects stacked neatly by row and file are by definition tabular.
Sorry, but that's utter rot. If you're going to get all OOP on my ass, input would be a data object method, whereas the data it's self would be a property of the object. Completely different things!
You can come up with as many ways to justify the use of layout tables for forms, but it doesn't make it right!
