This does in fact occur when absolutely positioned divs collide on top of each other. There aren't exactly workarounds...it just means that you either deal with it, or you redevelop your website with a bit more care, or just use floats (if they can suffice). espn.com is an infamous site that produces this effect. also try http://veerle.duoh.com
