An <?xml ?> declaration (or anything else before the Doctype) will trigger Quirks mode in IE6 so should be avoided. The prolog is optional if the defaults (XML 1.0 and UTF-8 or UTF-16) are used. It is forbidden if HTML 4.01 is used. -- David Dorward <http://dorward.me.uk/> ******************************************************************* List Guidelines: http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm Unsubscribe: http://webstandardsgroup.org/join/unsubscribe.cfm Help: memberh...@webstandardsgroup.org *******************************************************************
