Mike --
I believe you're mistaken to think that output to file timer.out was
flushed frequently in the past. It behaves now as it always did,
flushing whenever Windows gets around to it, or upon program exit. The
only change in its handling is that it now includes important (to me)
information about whether a valid file fftw_wisdom.dat was found and
processed at program startup, or not.
