Hi Mal,
there has been some discussion and a few experiments with potential
implementations. Our conclusions are that we can help if the
enhancements can be made simply and if their usage fits seamlessly with
normal HF WSJT-X usage. Along those lines are the following constraints
feasible:
1) The SNUS server publishes a list of registered vehicles, perhaps as
an HTTP GET request returning a small JSON file listing registered
vehicle identifying information that can be mapped to spots,
2) All vehicle HF WSPR and JT9 transmissions are within or very near
recognized WSPR and JT9 sub-bands and any WSPR transmissions are in line
with the globally coordinated HF band hopping schedule,
3) A test facility to send dummy spots to the server to validate
implementation.
These requirements are aimed at getting the maximum use of the "herd" of
HF WSJT-X users as a spotting network with no more than a check box in
WSJT-X to enable targeted spots being sent to the SNUS service.
Obviously vehicle projects may be restricted by licensing requirements
or firmware restrictions that we are not aware of but aside from that we
may be able to help.
