It would be preferable, I think, to simply allow the changing of the
DX call in auto sequence, but NOT change the data that is in the
dialog box that is going to go to the log file when the log dialog box
is open and then OKed. This would solve the problem, but not cause a
problem with the next auto sequence when the log dialog box is OKed,
and then TX is then enabled.

this is already exactly what happens.

I've actually SEEN it change the callsign in the Log QSO dialog box AS I
was moving the mouse over to the OK button - when it happens, it is in
the first second or two after the dialog box has opened. The callsign
changes, but the rest of the data in the dialog box does not. So I know
it can change the callsign in the dialog box, under some circumstance,
however rare. I've seen it happen.
