HI George and Steve,
I had a quick look at this issue a few days ago, I have not had time to
address it fully but it is a logic error related to DXpedition mode code
that tries to truncate a file that has not been opened, that causes a
permission issue as the file location is not set correctly. This happens
when nagain is set in decoder.f90, that happens when a "freeze" decode
at the cursor frequency is invoked. I believe that normal FT8 mode
should not be on the path that accesses this file at all.

Hi George -
Thanks for the report. I think that the problem is being caused by a
debug write statement that is being used for Fox/Hound debugging
purposes --- it will be easy to fix and we will do that before the GA
release. However, I should note that the problem is occurring because
a double-click on the waterfall invokes the “click to decode”
function, and initiates a call to the decoder with the deepest decode
settings.
If you are wanting to move the Tx and Rx frequencies, then a
command-single click should do that without calling the decoder.

I’ve had this reproducible error occur a few times now. 1.90rc4
(8642) downloaded from the WSJT-X homepage crashes when
command-double clicking on the FT8 wide graph to change DF only after
at least one decode cycle has completed. I had not seen this before 8642.
