Hello WSJT-X developers. Philip Gladstone from PSKReporter suggested that I
contact you about an idea we thought would be very helpful for many
amateurs using your modes.
At present, WSPR is the only practical one-way mode that you provide -- and
it's awesome. However, for flexibility, it would be great to be able to use
something like FT8 to send specially formatted message types to update
6-digit location, status, etc that would get reported -- in addition to
messages in the form: 'CQ AB6WA DM13'.
Here are a couple of examples. A developer using an experimental balloon
that wishes to know a 6-digit location on one transmission, altitude and
temperature on another transmission, and equipment status on another
transmission.
Another example is being out of range of cell service with no landline;
being able to transmit a quick status that one is okay or needs assistance
would be great.
So my question is basically, would you consider accepting another special
indicator in the message that would automatically upload a report besides
CQ CALL LOCATION. It would be really helpful to even just have CALL-SIGN
LOCATION and CALL-SIGN and SPECIAL SYMBOL (to denote free form) and FREE
FORM MESSAGE.
Thanks for listening and for considering the ideas.
