Love both FT8 and N1MM + logger,

So do I, but only for contest logging. My primary log is DXKeeper, which DOES record start and stop times, and is designed to be a general purpose logger. N1MM doesn't bother with start and stop times because contest QSOs are intentionally too short for that to matter. WSJT-X integrates very well with DXKeeper and with N1MM when used with JTAlert. I used it that way in the recent CQWW VHF contest. Outside of contests, I log directly to DXKeeper.

I don't know the law in the UK, but the logging requirement for US hams was eliminated MANY years ago.
