Hi, Windows 10 Update reported graphics driver up to date but I checked
on the manufacturer site and there was a minor update available, so
installed that and no difference.
That initial message is there - I can see it for something less than a
second, then the normal boxes overwrite it before it then disappears -
the last letter visible on the RHS in my screen grab is from that message.
Just checked and my laptop does the same thing.

Hi Alan,
you are the first to report that behaviour. What should happen, and
does when I start WSJT-X, is a message about the number of worked
before records discovered in your WSJT-X ADIF log is written to the
status bar *in place* of the normal static status bar information.
After a few seconds the normal status bar widgets reappear. It is
likely that the issue is due to a graphics card driver issue, check if
there are any updates available for your graphics card/chip?
