The only thing that comes to my mind:
Are you in offline mode while trying to fetch pages from the wwwoffle cache?
Oh, and just another one: maybe the name in the proxy setting is wrong --
well not really wrong, I think konqueror is very choosy with this name ...
So try all the other names of your computer (ip-number inclusive).
and if this doesn't help: what is the exact error message? What's written
in /var/log/messages?
