When the mailing lists were started several years ago there was no
interest in having a web based mailing list. I have never made the
archives accessible on the web on the principle that the mailing list
subscribers know that it is not publicly archived.
Before I did make the lists available I would want to make sure that
the subscribers were happy with this change.
There are also some proactical problems. It would be easiest to have
a web-server that also runs the mailing list as well as providing the
searchable archive for example.
