I'm worried that it's hard to put on the brakes when fetching whopper files. Just the other day I was fetching 3MB http://ftp.cc.monash.edu.au/pub/nihongo/enamdict.gz when I realized there it was already in my debian CD. OK, I tried all I knew to stop the download, mainly going to the lasttime page and hitting a delete option on it [result message: "success"]... however my pppd flow meter was still on max. Indeed it seems one can still see it with wwwoffle -status [recommendation: put the filename involved in the fetch into the -status output instead of just the pid. no everyone is a proc or whatever whiz.]
Anyway, killall -1 wwwoffled finally put this unstoppable fetch out of its misery. Of course maybe this "easy to get things, hard to change ones mind" condition is due to privoxy being between wwwoffle and the internet in my setup. Note that I can't make "the browser hangup on the request" because I didn't request it online, rather hours before offline. -- http://jidanni.org/ Taiwan(04)25854780
