When I want to stop a download, I close the browser and then do this:
# /etc/init.d/wwwoffle stop
# /etc/init.d/wwwoffle start
BTW: Doing /etc/init.d/wwwoffle restart often leaves wwwoffle
unstarted. It seems that there is a delay needed between stop and
start. This should go to the Debian maintainer, but I post it here
too, because other distros might have this problem too.
