I don't know why you think that plasticfs is a kernel module.  The web
page for it clearly states that it is not.

There is still a portability problem since it only works on systems
with the GNU C library.  If you want to use something like this on
Windows then you are unfortunately out of luck.

It looks like that for Linux users who want to be able to access an
archive of the WWWOFFLE cache and the existing cache at the same time
either of these solutions would work (with plasticfs being simpler).
