Looking for info on creating new wxPerl modules in the list archives, I was amused to find this thread from 2007:

http://perl.markmail.org/message/mmqca7tlzvverg4v

Interestingly, it intermittently derails into discussion of threading issues too :-p

More interesting is a comment towards the end from 'Peter', mentioning that the thread reminds him of a thread he started a year previously... point being, in three years none of these issues seem to have been solved :-/ I'm new, maybe some of the folk who've been around longer could comment on why this is the case.

Anyway, on a more constructive note: people have been talking about wikis and things. Is everyone happy enough with the pvoice one? I've been cleaning it up a little in the last few days and want to start an article out of my analysis of how Wx::ActiveX works. So I'm asking, are others happy putting their efforts into it?

Towards the end of the thread quoted above Mattia mentioned a willingness to offer access to SF to anyone who wanted to clean it up and improve it (which pretty much killed the conversation XD ). So that could be another option.

Also, on an optimistic note re: the discussion on 'killer apps' in that thread. As it turned out, years later DotReader did indeed have the effect of getting me interested, not just in wxPerl but Perl in general. And now I'm on Summer of Code trying to help!

So, y'all had the right ideas I guess :-)
