Thanks for your suggestions, Brian. There is a Perl module with bindings to 
OpenGL. In fact the German Perl journal "$foo" published a two part series on 
how to create simple graphics with the "OpenGL" module. I think I'll reread 
that particular article and see if it can be applied to Wx::GLCanvas.
