I have seen it with Safari, too, but not as much.  No problem with
Adium. I don't use Microsoft applications.  Sometimes Chrome becomes so
unusable that I maximize it so it will stay in focus.  It seems to
depend on the page being displayed, which suggests half the bug
might actually lie in a JavaScript library.
