Here's a specific data point, and it possibly supports this suggestion.
A few times a month I have to use a yahoo mail account, and today happened to
be one of those days. I only ever use Firefox with that account.
When I log in to that account, the window popping occurs right after I click
the appropriate button for the username and password entry pages. Always.
I know it happens lots more than just those couple of yahoo pages, but they're
a few I can point to as consistent, recurring locations.
