FYI: I have tried to compile the 1.4 candidate distribution with GCC-3.2 under Linux RedHat (does the specification of the supported compilers changed?), and got undefined references to `XalanNode::s_instanceCount' and `XalanNode::getLiveInstances(XalanNode**)' when linking 'testXSLT'.
