thanks so much.  A useful reply (unlike the last time I tried to do this).

I used subversion with my account and edited the part that you indicated. I
adding Kevin (subversion ID  kcormier) to the "xalan" group and to the
"committers-k" group.  I presume that after this Kevin can use his
previously existing subversion ID to make commits to our project.  . . .

Add Kevin's login to the relevant xalan group in asf-authorization (I
just gave you the chair karma).

The bit you don't mention below is whether Kevin has an account yet.
