The "WARNING" is expected if you don't have shapelib. If you *have* shapelib and it's giving you that, there's a problem. > Ran bootstrap.sh > before running configure and it was happier. You *always* have to run bootstrap.sh if configure.ac or any Makefile.am has changed.
