How do you propose that we detect at compile time whether it will ever get used? If the user plans never to use shapefiles, then we should recommend that the user specifiy "--without-rtree." Six of one, half a dozen of another right now. rtree is a tiny, tiny library, and if shapefiles aren't used then rtree being compiled in has no effect at all. -- Tom Russo KM5VY SAR502 DM64ux http://www.swcp.com/~russo/ Tijeras, NM QRPL#1592 K2#398 SOC#236 AHTB#1 http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?DDTNM "And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway?
