So, the low down is that more IGates are needed in populated places, and less digi's?

Hi Steve and list,

I was wondering the same thing. In fact I was about to send a mail to the aprssig but wanted to have my ideas straight in my head.

In Dublin (Ireland) we have one digi/IGate (EI7BFB-3) which can see the nearest digi some 90km away. (digiusage available here: http:// www.db0anf.de/app/aprs/stations/digiusermap-EI7BFB-3).

I had thought about setting up an IGate in the city centre (approx 4km from the EI7BFB-3 digi/IGate) in my home as a filler in for mobile stations.

The path that most (if not all EI land) mobile stations use is WIDE1-1, WIDE2-2, primarily due to the lack of IGate/digi infrastructure.

So, my question-should I still prepare to setup the IGate?

If this is deemed OT, no problem I'll bump it over to the aprssig for disection :P

thanks
