Hi xCAT List,
For some time we have been under the impression that we needed to define a
separate DNS sub-domain for each xCAT management node (i.e. each xCAT
cluster) that we have in our environment.
I notice in the fine print of the release notes for xCAT 2.7 that xCAT can
now update an external DNS server using the makedns -e option. Does this
mean that multiple xCAT management nodes (managing different clusters) can
now share a single DNS sub-domain? Or is it still recommended that each
cluster be part of a separate DNS sub-domain?
If we use makedns -e, do the DNS zone files for forward and reverse name
resolution need to be already defined on the external DNS server i.e. does
the makedns -e command only update existing DNS zones or can it create new
zones?
