Hi!

I'm currently running xcat 2.8-snap20130201 for ubuntu.

After the note I send, I tried to deploy the ubuntu image in a HS22 in the same bladecenter and it worked using xnba. I'll give it a shot with rhel on the HS23 and update the bladecenter firmware to check if this behave changes.

I had test installing ubuntu 12.04.2 on my test machine, did not met your problem. I think you can try to provision redhat or sles first.

[xcat-user] Loading image hangs during pxe installation

Hi!

I'm trying to deploy Ubuntu in a few compute nodes. I have tried both pxe and xnba as netboot, in both cases I got the booting hanging at some part.

For pxe, the compute node had the ip set by dhcp correctly and was able to download the necessary pxe files using tftp. It downloaded initrd.gz and vmlinuz and it started the installation process, hanging in the middle of it (see pic 1 attached).

For xnba, it also hangs trying to download the elilo-x86.efi file, at 31% . I've tried that for different compute nodes and they had the same behavior (see pic 2).
Log in the mn :

Mar  6 13:54:43 tam in.tftpd[21959]: RRQ from 9.114.219.49 filename /xcat/elilo-x64.efi
Mar  6 13:55:24 tam kernel: [2331921.456317] be2net 0000:16:00.1: Out of MCCQ wrbs

After some time, it restarts the cn and try to pxe boot it again, but it gives me those messages in the mn (be2net Out of MCCQ wrbs, which looks like network issues).

Any help or insights is appreciated!

Here is my configuration.
